Pricing & quotes
How much do hurricane impact windows cost in Florida?
Installed hurricane impact windows in Florida cost $45 to $115 per square foot in 2026. A typical 1,800–2,400 sq ft South Florida single-family home with 12 to 15 openings ranges from $14,000 to $42,000 for a full replacement.
How long does an EZPZ Windows quote take?
Under 2 minutes. You enter your openings using simple measurements (camera-guided measuring is built in), select product types and glass packages, and the system produces a real itemized price on screen and emails the PDF. No "we'll get back to you in 24 hours."
How long is the quote valid?
Every EZPZ Windows quote is locked in for 5 calendar days from the issue date, subject to confirmation of measurements during the free in-home verification visit. No bait-and-switch — the number you see is the number you pay.
Will someone call me after I get a quote?
Only if you ask us to. We do not sell your contact information, we do not run telemarketing campaigns, and we do not pass your number to lead-generation networks. The free expert verification visit is scheduled when you're ready — not because someone is pressuring you.
What is included in the price quote?
Each opening is itemized into product price and installation labor. The total includes:
- The impact-rated window or door
- All required hardware and anchors
- Professional installation by licensed crews
- Removal and disposal of the existing window
- Perimeter sealant and interior finish work
- Permit pull and inspection scheduling
- Engineering calculations (for standard residential replacement)
What is the cheapest way to get impact windows?
Most cost-effective approach: replace all openings in one project (volume discount), choose single hung and horizontal roller over picture and arched windows, stay with clear or tint glass instead of Lowe-366, and check eligibility for the My Safe Florida Home matching grant program or PACE financing.

Are EZPZ Windows products Miami-Dade NOA approved?
Yes — every product. NOA numbers are listed on your quote and verifiable on the Miami-Dade Product Control online directory. We will never install a non-NOA product in the HVHZ.
More on what NOA means and why it matters: Miami-Dade NOA explained.
What brands do you install?
We work with the major Miami-Dade NOA approved manufacturers depending on the opening, project budget, and aesthetic requirements: PGT WinGuard, CGI Sentinel/Estate, ECO Window Systems, ESW, and CWS (Custom Window Systems). See our brand comparison guide for trade-offs.
What is the difference between impact glass and tempered glass?
Tempered glass is heat-treated to break into small blunt pieces when shattered. It does not resist hurricane impact and is not code-compliant for opening protection in Florida.
Impact glass is laminated — two glass lites bonded with a PVB or SentryGlas interlayer that holds the glass together when struck by storm debris. Only laminated impact glass passes Miami-Dade NOA or Florida Product Approval impact tests.
Are vinyl impact windows as good as aluminum?
Equally code-compliant when NOA approved, more thermally efficient (lower U-factor, better Energy Star ratings), and typically 10–18% cheaper. Trade-offs: thicker sight-lines, fewer color and finish options, and a narrower selection of NOA-approved configurations for large openings.
Code & permits
Are impact windows required by law in Florida?
In Miami-Dade and Broward counties (the HVHZ), every exterior opening must have NOA approved opening protection — either impact windows or NOA approved shutters covering every opening. In other Florida coastal wind zones, opening protection is required for new construction. See our Florida code guide for the full breakdown.
Do I need a permit to replace windows in Florida?
Yes. Every county requires a permit for any window replacement that touches the exterior building envelope. Permit fees typically run $200–$600.
Does EZPZ Windows pull the permit?
Yes. We pull every permit through the local building department, schedule the final inspection, and provide the homeowner with the closed-permit certificate at job completion. We never ask homeowners to "homeowner pull" the permit themselves.
What happens if I install windows without a permit?
Three problems: the home cannot be sold without disclosing unpermitted work; you forfeit the wind-mitigation insurance discount because no OIR-B1-1802 form can be issued; and a hurricane claim may be denied for non-compliance. Always pull the permit.
Installation
How long does installation take?
For a typical 1,800–2,400 sq ft single-family home with 12 to 15 openings, installation runs 3 to 6 working days. Permit approval (5–15 business days) and product manufacturing (4 to 10 weeks depending on season and product) come before install.
Will I have to move out during installation?
No. Installation is done one room at a time with temporary protection sheets to keep the rest of the house comfortable. Most homeowners stay in the house the entire time. Sliding glass doors and large openings take a few hours each; smaller windows take 30–60 minutes.
Can I install impact windows myself to save money?
No. Florida law requires a licensed contractor for any window replacement that touches the exterior envelope. DIY installation voids the manufacturer warranty, voids the NOA approval, and disqualifies you from the wind mitigation insurance discount.
Does EZPZ Windows work on condos?
Yes. Condo associations usually have specific window types, frame colors, and glass tints they approve. Get the association's window standard before requesting a quote and we'll match it exactly. We handle the board submittal process for you.
What is the warranty?
Window products carry the manufacturer's warranty — typically 10 years on impact-related glass breakage and 20 years on the frame and seal (PGT, CGI). CWS residential frames carry a limited lifetime warranty. EZPZ Windows warrants installation labor for 1 year against workmanship defects.
Insurance & financing
Do impact windows reduce my Florida homeowners insurance?
Yes. Florida statute requires insurers to offer wind-mitigation discounts. After installation, a Florida-licensed wind mitigation inspector issues an OIR-B1-1802 form. Homeowners typically see a 10–45% reduction in the wind portion of their premium, often $500–$2,500 per year.
How much does the wind mitigation inspection cost?
$75–$150 for a standalone wind mitigation inspection in South Florida. Many insurers reimburse the cost or include it in the policy. The discount earned typically pays back the inspection in the first month.
Do you offer financing?
Yes. We work with approved third-party lenders to offer financing on approved credit. EZPZ Windows is neither a broker nor a lender — financing terms are arranged directly between the homeowner and the lender. Ask for current APR and program details before signing.
Can I use PACE financing for impact windows?
Yes. Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) programs (Ygrene, Renew Financial, Florida PACE Funding Agency) pay for the install upfront and are repaid through your property tax bill over 15–25 years. Often combinable with the insurance savings to net zero or net positive in year one.
What is the My Safe Florida Home grant program?
A state-funded program providing eligible Florida homeowners up to $10,000 in matching funds (2-to-1 state match) for hurricane mitigation improvements, including impact windows. Eligibility requires a state inspection plus income and homestead requirements. Apply at MySafeFLHome.com.
Day-to-day benefits
Are impact windows soundproof?
Not soundproof — but significantly quieter. The PVB interlayer that makes impact glass shatter-resistant also dampens sound. Typical noise reduction is 25–50% versus single-pane windows. For homes near major roads, airports, or on the water, the difference is immediately noticeable.
Do impact windows block UV light?
Yes. The PVB interlayer blocks over 99% of UV radiation, dramatically reducing fading of furniture, hardwood floors, artwork, and fabric.
Are impact windows more energy efficient?
Yes — significantly. Compared to single-pane windows, impact windows reduce cooling energy use by an estimated 20–35% in South Florida's climate. Adding Lowe-366 glass adds another 5–10% on top of that.
Do impact windows improve home security?
Yes. Laminated impact glass does not shatter into shards when struck — it holds together, making forced break-in dramatically slower and noisier than with standard glass. Many burglars give up after the first hit fails to penetrate.
Can I keep my existing shutters after installing impact windows?
Yes. Many homeowners leave roll-down or accordion shutters in place as a redundant second layer of protection. They don't increase the insurance discount (you already get maximum opening protection credit from impact windows), but they're optional belt-and-suspenders coverage. Removing them is also a paid add-on if you prefer the cleaner look.
